The Ukrainian servicemen have received another batch of Canadian Gurkha armored vehicles to rescue the wounded.
The Minister of Digital Transformation, Mykhailo Fedorov, said that four more armored vehicles from United24 were sent to the front.
The Gurkha Light Armored Patrol Vehicles (LAPV) are being transferred to the Ukrainian military to rescue the wounded.
“A total of 13 armored vehicles have been purchased from Canadian partners, 11 of which are already in Ukraine,” said Mykhailo Fedorov.
These armored vehicles are manufactured by Terradyne Armored Vehicles Inc. from Ontario province, Canada.
The Gurkha is available in three different variants, each based on the Ford F-550 Super Duty chassis.
The name is a tribute to the Gurkhas, Nepali soldiers, who served in addition to the Nepali Army in armies of India and Great Britain.
“The vehicle’s level of protection meets the STANAG 4569 Level II standard. In addition, they can carry many wounded sitting or on stretchers,” the company said.
Gurkha armored vehicles by the Canadian manufacturer have high cross-country ability, therefore the vehicles can drive on war-torn roads.
The total cost of all 13 armored vehicles for military medics is UAH124 million. The money was raised in December 2022.
The armored vehicles were ordered by the Medical Procurement of Ukraine.
As previously reported, a batch of Australian Bushmaster armored vehicles, which have already proven themselves in combat operations, was sent to Ukraine.
