Elbit Systems plans to build a development, production, and training center in the Czech Republic in cooperation with the Czech company LPP.

Israeli company Elbit Systems plans to build a development, production, and training center for Central Europe in the Czech Republic. There has never been a similar Elbit technology center in Europe before.

In addition to drones, the Israeli company also produces sensors, cameras, and electronic warfare equipment. They will be designed, manufactured and repaired in the Czech Republic for the benefit of Central European customers.

Elbit’s domestic partner will be the Czech company LPP, which specializes in the production of civil and military avionics, autonomous control systems, thermal imaging cameras and sights.

“The scope and size of the transfer of Israeli technology is linked to the number of orders Elbit will receive in Central Europe,” says LPP co-owner Radim Petrash.

It is reported that the Czech Republic is currently interested in purchasing new drones produced at Elbit’s new facilities.

Potential for cooperation

In addition to drones, Elbit Systems also specializes in the production of remote combat modules. In particular, UT-30 Mk.II unmanned turrets are used to equip Pandur II vehicles manufactured in the Czech Republic.

Moreover, Elbit is now actively conquering the European market for multiple launch rocket systems and short-range missile systems, which has gained attention after the successful debut of the US-made HIMARS systems in Ukraine.

The Israeli PULS MRL, similar to the US system, has been ordered by Germany, the Netherlands, and Denmark in the last year alone. In addition, Spain is partially localizing this system under its own name, SILAM.

Most of the parts of this system for European customers can be manufactured at the new production center in cooperation with Czech defense companies.

In particular, this may include the use of Tatra chassis, electronics production by LPP, and localization of missile launch containers by Retia. The Czech STV Group, which produces ammunition and its components, could master the production of missiles.
