In Lithuania, €14 million were raised for radars, which should help protect Ukrainian skies from Russian attacks.

Lithuanian journalist and volunteer Andrius Tapinas reported about this on Twitter.

It took four weeks to raise that amount.

“14 million euros from Lithuanians to buy radars to defend Ukraine. In four weeks. That’s it from us. For now. We will be back,” Tapinas wrote.

It should be noted that the final amount the volunteers managed to raise nearly tripled the initial plans of the campaign, which provided for the collection of €5 million.

At the same time, one radar together with the equipment costs about €1 million.

Funds were raised for modern Israeli-made radars. The campaign, which started on January 30, received the Lithuanian name – RADAROM!

Public organizations supporting Ukraine in Lithuania took part in it, such as Blue/Yellow, Laisvės TV, 1K fondas and Stiprūs kartu, as well as the Lithuanian public broadcaster LRT.

This initiative was also supported by the Minister of Defense of Lithuania, Arvydas Anušauskas.

At the beginning of the campaign, the Lithuanians set a goal of collecting €5 million, but in the first week €6 million were raised.

According to the organizers of the action, the purchase has already been agreed with the Israeli manufacturer.

Previously, Lithuania has sent a batch of L70 autocannons to Ukraine aiming to strengthen its air defense. In addition to the anti-aircraft guns, the necessary ammunition for them was also included.
