Strike drones targeted the industrial area of the TogliattiAzot chemical plant in Russia’s Samara region.

The regional governor confirmed the attack.

The strike took place overnight between March 28 and 29, 2026. Local residents reported hearing gunfire, suggesting Russian mobile air-defense units were actively responding.

Later, at 2:35 a.m., the NASA FIRMS monitoring system recorded an unusual heat spike on the plant’s premises.

TogliattiAzot is a chemical plant located in the city of Togliatti in Russia’s Samara region and is one of the world’s largest ammonia producers.

The plant’s main product is ammonia, along with urea (carbamide) and other chemical products primarily used in the production of mineral fertilizers. However, ammonia and nitrogen-based compounds also serve as key raw materials for a range of industrial and military-industrial processes. In particular, they can be used to produce explosives, rocket fuel, and other chemical components.

Militarnyi previously reported that Ukrainian strike drones hit a Russian industrial enterprise in the city of Gubakha, Perm Krai, earlier that morning.
