In Krasnodar Krai, on the night of September 25, drones attacked the EuroChem-Belorechensk Mineral Fertilizers chemical plant, involved in the production of explosives in Russia.
Astra reports that in the morning, traffic in the area around the plant was blocked.
The regional operational headquarters reported a fire at the facility and the evacuation of employees following the attack. However, they did not specify the name of the plant.
“About 140 people – employees of the enterprise – were evacuated to a shelter,” the statement says.
According to locals, vehicle traffic in the city was blocked specifically in the area around the chemical plant.
Residents of Belorechensk in Krasnodar Krai reported on social media during the night about an attack by strike drones on the EuroChem plant and explosions.
The local authorities, following the usual Russian pattern, stated that fragments of drones fell near one of the city’s large enterprises, causing a fire covering an area of 50 square meters, which was later extinguished.
No casualties have been reported so far. Special and emergency services continue to work at the site.
EuroChem-Belorechensky Fertilizers is one of the largest producers of mineral fertilizers in southern Russia.
In the spring, Bloomberg found that Russian explosives manufacturers were circumventing international sanctions through fertilizer companies. This involved supplying tens of thousands of tons of nitric acid and nitric-sulfuric acid mixtures to companies engaged in the production of explosives.
According to Reuters, since the start of the full-scale war, companies belonging to the EuroChem holding have been supplying key chemicals to Russian factories producing explosives and gunpowder.
Previously, Ukrainian drones attacked Russian factories belonging to EuroChem – the Azot chemical plant in the Tula region and Nevinnomyssk Azot in the Stavropol region.
