Attack drones targeted the Krasnozavodsk Chemical Plant in the Moscow region on July 7, according to local media and residents.
The plant is affiliated with the Russian Ministry of Defense and is part of the country’s defense-industrial complex.
Residents in the area reported hearing at least seven explosions near the facility, Exilenova+ reported. The Russian authorities have not officially confirmed the incident.
The Krasnozavodsk Chemical Plant produces equipment and components for military use, including illumination devices, aircraft protection systems, and anti-terrorism technologies.
Its operations are carried out under state contracts for the Russian Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Internal Affairs, and other security agencies.
One of its largest contracts is with military unit 55056, a division of Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB), worth approximately RUB 8.6 million rubles.
The plant is a state-owned enterprise that receives funding through the state corporation Rostec, which oversees many of Russia’s defense manufacturers.
This is the second reported drone strike in recent weeks on a major chemical facility connected to Russian military production.
On June 14, a similar attack targeted Nevinnomyssk Azot, a major chemical plant in the Stavropol region involved in the rocket engine production chain.
Nevinnomyssk Azot cooperates with NPO Iskra, a key Russian aerospace firm that develops solid-fuel rocket engines for various missile systems, including those used by Russia’s strategic forces.
According to publicly available procurement records, Nevinnomyssk Azot has at least two contracts with NPO Iskra worth a combined RUB 3.3 million rubles.
