Strike drones targeted a key railway hub in the urban-type settlement of Kamenolomna, located in Russia’s Rostov region.
The news outlet Astra reported on this.
The strike caused a complete halt in train traffic, affecting both passenger services and military convoys passing through the station en route to Ukraine.
According to Astra, Kamenolomni is one of the major railway junctions in the southern corridor and holds significant strategic importance.
The station is located in southern Russia, along the route Rostov-on-Don – Taganrog – Donetsk, and plays an important role in the transportation of military equipment.
The targeted site is situated approximately 38 kilometers from the Ukrainian state border.
It is worth noting that Russia is currently restoring railway lines in the temporarily occupied territories, primarily in the Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia regions.
For example, the new railway connection between Rostov-on-Don and Crimea is being laid by Russia through occupied territories, including through Berdyansk.
Its aim is to reduce dependence on the Crimean Bridge and ensure safer transportation of military cargo to replenish Russian forces in Ukraine with equipment and improved logistics.
Despite this, trains on certain sections of the railway pass close to territories controlled by Ukraine, allowing drone strikes against them.
Militarnyi previously reported that the soldiers from the Ronin unit of the 65th Mechanized Brigade struck a Russian fuel train using FPV drones in the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia region.
The train was stopped and hit on a railway section between the village of Levadne and the city of Molochansk in the Tokmak district of the Zaporizhzhia region – thanks to the coordinated efforts of several units.
