Drones Strike Military Electronics Plant in Russia

The Ukrainian Defense Forces drones attacked a Russian plant that produces electronics for electronic warfare systems.

The targeted facility was the Bolkhov Semiconductor Devices Plant, located in the Oryol region.

Explosions at the facility occurred on the morning of May 21, 2025. Later, photos published by local residents appeared online, showing a fire in one of the production buildings on Vasily Yermakov Street in the city of Bolkhov.

It should be noted that the facility specializes in the development and production of semiconductors and other electronic components, which are also used in Russian electronic warfare systems.

In addition, the plant manufactures microchips, semiconductors, indicators, microassemblies, and so-called “eternal batteries” for radioelectronic equipment.

The company cooperates with the Russian defense concern Sozvezdiye and other structures of the Russian defense industry, to which it supplies these components for further use in communication and control systems, tank simulators, and missile systems.

The plant employs approximately 700 staff members. The plant has been under U.S. sanctions since May 1, 2024.

The facility is located at coordinates 53.440502, 36.015221, approximately 190 km from the Ukrainian state border. Moreover, this is the first instance of an attack on this plant in the city of Bolkhov.

Militarnyi previously reported that a Ukrainian drone strike destroyed a newly built workshop at the Scheglovsky Val plant in Tula, Russia, a facility known for manufacturing the Pantsir-S1 air defense system.

A new workshop, built on the premises as part of the production expansion in March 2025, was destroyed during a drone attack on May 7, 2025.

According to satellite images, the newly built building was completely destroyed, and a large black spot remains in its place, which may indicate a fire.
