On the night of Monday, March 25, in the Rostov region of Russia, kamikaze drones attacked the Novocherkasskaya SDPP.
As a result of the attack, a fire broke out at the transformer substation that led to the temporary decommissioning of two power units.
The fact of the fire was confirmed by the governor of the Russian region Vasilii Golubev.
At the same time, local Telegram channels, citing eyewitnesses, reported that the Novocherkasskaya State District Power Plant (SDPP) had been attacked by attack drones.
On social media, local residents publish relevant videos.
“Tonight, a fire broke out at the transformer substation of the Novocherkasskaya SDPP, which was promptly eliminated by the forces of station workers. There are no injuries. The causes of ignition are being established,” Golubev said.
At the same time, the Russian officials did not mention anything about the drone attack.
However, it is worth noting that Russian officials are not willing to report losses, and usually do not give the true cause of this or that event at important sites.
Before the fire, locals heard the sounds of drones flying in the sky over the Rostov region. Then in the area of the power plant, powerful explosions had been heard, after which the fire began.
Due to a fire at the transformer substation, the high-voltage lines 330 kV – Tikhoretskaya and Rostov emergency shutdown.
Novocherkasskaya SDPP (State District Power Plant) is the largest thermal power plant and the second largest power plant after the Rostov NPP in the Rostov Region of the Russian Federation. The SDPP is located at a distance of more than 200 kilometers from the territory controlled by the government of Ukraine.
As previously reported, at night, March 23, drones attacked the Kuibyshev oil refinery in the Samara region. As a result of the attack, a severe fire broke out on the territory of the refinery.
