On the night of August 16, attack drones attacked the Nevinnomyssk Azot chemical plant in Russia’s Stavropol Krai.

The report comes from ASTRA.

According to local residents, they heard 9-10 explosions and noticed a fire in the area of the plant.

In addition, the mayor of the city, Mikhail Minenkov, and the governor of the region confirmed the attack, noting that it was aimed at the industrial zone of the city.

According to official reports, there were no casualties or significant damage, and the fire was caused by stubble burning at the site of the drone crash.

It should be noted that this is the third attack on Nevinnomyssk Azot in the summer of 2025, according to ASTRA.

The previous attacks took place on June 14th and July 25th. During the attack on June 14th, 13 drones damaged doors, windows, the premises of one of the workshops, the roof of the dining room, and the plant’s anti-drone defense.

Nevinnomyssk Azot, part of the EuroChem Group, is a strategically important enterprise that produces ammonia, nitrogen fertilizers, as well as nitric and acetic acids. The enterprise is located 400~ km from the government-controlled territory of Ukraine at coordinates 44.65905524796034, 41.940008762580746.

According to Reuters, from 2022 to 2024, the plant, together with Novomoskovsk Azot, supplied at least 38,000 tons of acetic acid and almost 5,000 tons of nitric acid to the Sverdlov plant in Russia’s Nizhny Novgorod region, which is used to produce explosives, including octogen and hexogen, for artillery shells.

Nevinnomyssk Azot is the largest producer of nitrogen fertilizers and ammonia in Russia, part of the EuroChem Group.

It also produces dual-use products. The total production capacity is over 1 million tons of ammonia and 1.4 million tons of ammonium nitrate per year. Urea production reaches 0.89 million tons per year.

The plant is located 650 kilometers from the government-controlled territory of Ukraine. It actively works for the Russian defense industry.

Earlier, Militarnyi reported that on the night of July 25th, drones had attacked the Nevinnomyssk Azot chemical plant, which was involved in the chain of explosives production in Russia.
