On the night of December 4, drones attacked the Nevinnomysskiy Azot chemical plant, which is part of Russia’s production chain for explosives and rocket fuel.
The Exilenova+ Telegram channel reported on this.
The plant is located near the city of Nevinnomyssk in Stavropol Krai and is one of the largest chemical industry facilities in southern Russia.
Local residents reported hearing a series of loud explosions in the area during the night.
Vladimir Vladimirov, the region’s governor, also confirmed the drone attack on Nevinnomyssk. According to him, there were allegedly “no casualties or damage” as a result of the strike.
The image published online shows a large fire in the facility’s area.
Before this, the plant had already been attacked by drones in June, July, and August. After the Ukrainian drone strikes in June, the plant temporarily suspended operations.
The Nevinnomysskiy Azot plant is part of the EuroChem holding and is one of Russia’s largest producers of nitrogen fertilizers and ammonia.
Its total production capacity exceeds 1 million tons of ammonia and 1.4 million tons of ammonium nitrate per year.
The plant is a regular supplier of chemical components to NPO Iskra – one of Russia’s largest machine-building enterprises and a developer and manufacturer of solid-fuel rocket engines and their components for various missile systems.
The plant also supplies raw materials for the production of powerful explosives – RDX and HMX – at the Sverdlov Plant in Dzerzhinsk, Nizhny Novgorod region.
These explosives, in turn, are used to produce artillery shells and warheads for missiles.
