Drones Attack Enterprises in Russian Cities of Penza and Sterlitamak

On the night of January 6, a series of explosions blasted in the Russian cities of Penza and Sterlitamak.

Eyewitnesses among local residents reported damage to the territory of enterprises.

The first explosions were reported by residents of the Russian city of Penza.

According to eyewitnesses, about 10 explosions were heard in the city, and in the eastern part of the settlement, witnesses observed bright flashes in the sky. Prior to this, the sound of drones flying overhead was heard.

Later, monitoring channels reported that the Biominthez factory in Penza might have been targeted, and there were also speculations that the local bearing factory could have been damaged.

At the same time, by the morning, Astra reported that the GATP-2 facility had been attacked by drones during the night.

The UAV reportedly hit an object located on the territory of the GATP-2 facility in the Shuist microdistrict, at 10A Druzhby Street, according to a Telegram channel.

According to their information, GATP-2 Penza is Cargo Transport Enterprise No. 2. The company’s main activity is the rental and management of its own or leased non-residential real estate. Various businesses rent spaces on the premises.

Around 5 a.m. local time, drones also reached the Republic of Bashkortostan. Reports emerged online about a series of explosions in the city of Sterlitamak. This is where a large petrochemical plant, the Sterlitamak Oil and Gas Chemical Plant, is located, which Ukrainian drones have previously targeted.

The enterprise specializes in the production of rubber, ionol, and aviation fuel. The plant is part of the Russian Roskhim chemical holding. Its products are used, among other things, for Russia’s military-industrial complex.

The Russians claimed that their air defense allegedly shot down 129 drones over the territory of the Russian Federation and temporarily occupied Crimea during the night.
