Poland has developed anti-drone missiles that can be launched from drones.
The HAASTA drone equipped with 105-mm anti-drone missiles was shown at the MSPO international exhibition in Poland. Defence24 reported this.
The missiles were developed at the Military Technical Institute of Armaments of Poland (WITU).
According to the developers, they are relatively inexpensive to produce.
“The estimated cost of destroying one UAV is up to PLN 200,000 (approximately USD 55 thousand),” WITU stated.
Technical characteristics of the missile:
One of the features of the new system is the ability to simultaneously launch and control up to 32 missiles.
During testing, the probability of hitting the target reached 90%.
The HAASTA drone, on which the new missiles were presented, was initially designed to combat kamikaze drones, such as the Shahed.
The original concept included a 5.45 mm machine gun under the fuselage, but this idea was abandoned in favor of more effective WITU missiles.
Characteristics of the HAASTA:
Similar developments are emerging in other countries. For example, in Germany, Rheinmetall recently presented its version of an air-to-air missile for drones.
