The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) has detained an agent working for the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation (FSB) and Belarusian border intelligence within Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces. He was leaking information about the use of Ukrainian drones in the Kharkiv region.
According to the SSU, the suspect initially served as a UAV operator and passed information to Russian forces about the routes, types, and numbers of Ukrainian drones used in fighting along the northeastern border.
Following instructions from his handlers, he later transferred to a role operating ground-based robotic systems in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. These systems are used to evacuate wounded soldiers and deliver ammunition in the Izium sector.
After the transfer, he began gathering intelligence on the positions and planned operations of nearby Ukrainian military units.
Meanwhile, he was gathering information on the tactical and technical characteristics and operational use of Ukraine’s latest robotic systems.
After completing his assignments, the detained serviceman planned to escape to Russia via the front line.
The agent of the hostile intelligence services was detained at his location in the Kharkiv region after his subversive activities had been documented.
“During searches, two smartphones were seized from the suspect, containing evidence of his cooperation with the intelligence services of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus,” the SSU reported.
The suspect is being held in custody without the possibility of bail. He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
Recently, the Security Service of Ukraine thwarted an attempted assassination of the commander of the 3rd Army Corps of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
A UAV operator from one of the brigades carrying out combat missions in the Kharkiv region was working for the enemy.
