The German Federal Ministry of Economy has authorized Donaustahl to manufacture and export MAUS drones.
The company said that the new drones will be delivered to the Ukrainian Kraken division.
According to the company, the MAUS system can be used to attack manpower and armored vehicles.
The MAUS platform is a quadcopter capable of performing both reconnaissance and strike missions.
MAUS is designed as an FPV drone. It is described as a “fully modular, cost-effective, reliable and easy-to-operate platform” designed to require minimal operator training.
Based on the tactical and technical characteristics of the MAUS drone, it is known that it can carry a payload of up to 2.7 kg and has a flight range of 5 to 7 km.
The drone is equipped with a high-resolution camera that allows it to perform missions even at night. It can also be equipped with various types of ammunition.
It is claimed to be superior to “artisanal and civilian” drones in terms of performance and effectiveness.
Unlike commercially available drones, the MAUS is made not from carbon, but from specially treated wood.
This makes the barrage munition platform about 10% heavier than conventional FPV drones, but at the same time about 75% cheaper in terms of the cost of manufacturing the frame.
The company is also currently testing and developing its own AI-based recognition software called Vulture, which is designed to reliably recognize people and vehicles.
As a reminder, in 2021, Donaustahl presented the concept of a ground-based unmanned platform with a combined crawler and walking undercarriage.
