According to US President-elect Donald Trump, Russia lost 600,000 troops in the war with Ukraine.
Donald Trump said that this led to a weakening of Russia in Syria as well.
“Russia, because they are so tied up in Ukraine, and with the loss of over 600,000 soldiers there, seems incapable of stopping this literal march through Syria,” Trump said.
According to him, Russia intervened in Syria after the outbreak of the civil war in the country, but now Russian soldiers, as well as Assad’s own fighters, are being pushed out.
The American politician noted that this may be “the best thing that can happen to them.”
“There was never much of a benefit in Syria for Russia. In any event, Syria is a mess but is not our friend, & THE UNITED STATES SHOULD HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH IT,” Trump added.
At the same time, the US military is concentrating in Syria on the territory controlled by the Kurdish units.
Previously, the U.S. Air Force deployed A-10 Thunderbolt II attack aircraft to strike Assad’s forces on the left bank of the Euphrates.
On December 6, the Ukrainian General Staff reported that the Russian invasion forces had already lost 750,000 troops.
The average daily losses of the Russian army in the war against Ukraine reached a new record high in November.
The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine said that in November 2024, Russia’s losses amounted to 45,680 people. It should be noted that these figures include irrecoverable and sanitary losses in the Russian army.
As previously reported, the inflow of volunteers to the Russian army has significantly decreased despite the high payouts for signing a contract.
