Operators of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine have received a new batch of Ukrainian Sych strike and reconnaissance systems.
The DIU’s press service reported on this and released the photos of the drones.
Funds in the amount of UAH 25 million to purchase these systems for Ukrainian intelligence officers were raised in a charity fundraiser held by the national telethon “United News.”
Thanks to this, Diana Podolianchuk’s Charitable Foundation purchased and handed over 14 Sych UAVs to the scouts.
“These drones are unique because they can perform both strike and reconnaissance missions. The board can carry up to 4 kg of ammunition – 2 kg on each side. In addition, Sychs are reusable,” the DIU said.
They added that this domestic drone is equipped with additional protection against electronic warfare and can operate within a radius of up to 150 kilometers in reconnaissance mode and up to 100 kilometers in strike mode.
“The DIU operators have already destroyed more than $800 million worth of enemy equipment with Sychamy. We continue to work on the destruction of the enemy,” the statement said.
Earlier this year, the DIU said that the Sych was originally intended for reconnaissance but was later modified and is now used as a strike and reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicle.
The Ukrainian defense has long used these UAVs, including for strikes on the rear of Russian invaders.
According to Andrii Yusov, a representative of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, in strike mode, Sych can fly 50 kilometers deep into the enemy’s rear and is resistant to enemy electronic warfare.
Ukrainian defenders use these drones to destroy both manpower and enemy armored vehicles.
For this purpose, the DIU has trained crews and instructors who teach new operators how to use these domestic drones.
