Diehl Defense has unveiled a new missile complex, the Coastal Defense Launcher, an innovative solution for coastal defense.
The company presented a mock-up of the system at the LIMA 2025 exhibition in Malaysia.
This modular mobile launcher is designed for effective protection of coastal areas.
The Coastal Defense Launcher is equipped with a new generation of anti-ship missiles.
Each launcher can carry up to four anti-ship missiles. The launcher is versatile and capable of using different missiles.
These include the RBS15 Mk3 missile from Saab, developed in partnership with Diehl Defense.
RBS15 Mk3 has a range of over 200 km, can be launched from both ships and trucks, and is mainly used against maritime targets. The later Mk3 version is also capable of striking ground targets.
The missile has high tactical flexibility thanks to its ability to change its flight path. Flying at an altitude of less than 3 meters above sea level makes it difficult to detect.
This missile is already in use in new Swedish and German coastal defense systems, where it is integrated into mobile launchers developed by Diehl Defense.
Also in 2022, the German Navy corvette Oldenburg for the first time fired RBS15 anti-ship missiles in Norway.
As a reminder, the Ukrainian military uses Swedish RBS17 missile systems to engage enemy ground targets.
These systems are typically used to target enemy firing positions, dugouts, or lightly armored vehicles.
