The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation has detained two high-ranking researchers from the All-Russian Scientific Research Institute for Civil Defense and Emergency Situations.
This was reported by RBC sources in law enforcement agencies, noting that the suspects face up to 15 years in prison, according to DW.
The head of the center, Nikolai Posokhov, who directly supervised the development of the Kub-M mobile shelter, and his deputy, Igor Sosunov, are accused of receiving bribes on an especially large scale.
This project was launched by order of the Ministry of Emergency Situations back in 2015, and serial production of mobile bunkers began in the fall of 2024 in Dzerzhinsk, Nizhny Novgorod Region.
The Kub-M shelter is designed for 54 people, and its design allows it to be transported by road or rail.
The developers claimed that the bunker provides three levels of protection: from the explosive effects of conventional weapons, from radioactive radiation, and from the effects of nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons.
In his interviews, Mykola Posokhov stated that, in its maximum configuration, the structure is capable of withstanding not only the effects of a nuclear explosion, but also a direct hit from modern high-precision missiles, in particular from HIMARS MLRS.
