Denmark has announced another military aid package for Ukraine, which, among other things, includes support equipment for F-16 fighter jets.

The Danish Ministry of Defense said that the 19th aid package will simultaneously support Ukraine’s immediate needs and contribute to the long-term development of Ukraine’s self-defense capabilities.

It provides for the conclusion of several different agreements with allies regarding procurement and transfers by the allied defense industry.

Among other things, more equipment to support F-16s was donated by Denmark.

Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen said that with the latest aid package, Copenhagen is providing “the maximum possible support for Ukraine’s needs on the battlefield here and now.”

“But we also have a security commitment to support Ukraine for the next 10 years. That is why we have created a Danish model of support through the Ukrainian defense industry, which will help to increase Ukrainian production of military equipment in the short and long term,” said Poulsen.

As Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen added, investing in Ukraine’s defense industry is “an effective and sustainable way to support Ukraine’s combat capability both here and now and in the long term.”

He also promised that Denmark, for its part, would continue to expand opportunities to support the Ukrainian defense industry.

The Danish Ministry of Defense notes that a total of DKK 1.2 billion has been reserved for the last two aid packages for investment in the Ukrainian defense industry.

The 19th aid package makes it possible to utilize DKK 1.2 billion in a way that allows the Ministry of Defense to quickly meet Ukraine’s needs. The first project is expected to be launched in the summer.

As previously reported, the F-16 fighter jets that Denmark is handing over to the Ukrainian Air Force will be delivered in the near future.

Denmark has pledged to transfer 19 F-16s, which were modernized in the 2000s under the Mid-Life Update (MLU) program.
