The Danish Ministry of Defense has announced the signing of a contract with Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles (RMMV) for the supply of new off-road trucks for the 1st Brigade.
The supply will last until the end of 2028, and RMMV will be the sole manufacturer and key supplier of the entire batch of vehicles, the Danish Ministry of Defense’s Logistics and Procurement Board (FMI) reported.
The contract was signed in Castleton by Colonel Thomas Øgendahl Knudsen, Head of Land Procurement, and Andre Barthel, CEO of RMMV.
The army will receive RMMV HX2 trucks, which are modern all-terrain platforms compatible with NATO standards and existing Danish army equipment.
The vehicles will be delivered in several configurations (4×4, 6×6, 8×8), which will cover a wide range of operational and logistics support tasks in the 1st Brigade.
FMI emphasizes that the equipment from Rheinmetall will provide increased mobility, cross-country ability and flexibility for the units in various operational scenarios.
Colonel Knudsen noted that the contract guarantees a significant increase in the brigade’s combat capabilities and is another step in the rearmament of the ground forces.
The purchase was financed through the Acceleration Fund, which allowed RMMV to be selected as the supplier with the fastest production cycle and full compatibility with the needs of the Danish Army.
Rheinmetall has recently announced that it will produce an additional 1,388 trucks for the Bundeswehr.
