Denmark plans to invest about €1.4 billion directly in Ukrainian defense companies by the end of 2025.

This was announced by Danish Defence Minister Troels Lund Poulsen during a press conference following an informal meeting of EU defense ministers in Copenhagen, Suspilne reports.

According to him, Ukraine today needs much more military support. Any delay, the minister emphasized, could lead to the fact that “in the long run, the costs will be much higher.”

Mr. Poulsen reminded that the year before Denmark had invested about €600 million under the so-called ‘Danish model’ directly into Ukrainian defense companies.

He emphasized that the Ukrainian defense industry demonstrated a much higher production rate than most European companies.

“Ukrainian manufacturers are able to launch production in a few months, not years. In addition, this is a cost-effective model. That is why we need to do even more in this area. I hope that more countries will support our approach,” the Minister said.

According to him, in a few weeks the first Ukrainian defense company will start production in Denmark. In the future, it will be joined by other Ukrainian defense companies.

“I am convinced that this will be another step forward in strengthening support for Ukraine,” Mr. Poulsen emphasized.

On August 27th, it became known that Denmark would allocate at least 500 million Danish kroner (over €41 million euros) to the Fund for Ukraine. This money is aimed at attracting investment in the reconstruction of the Ukrainian economy.

The funds will be used to provide guarantees from the Export and Investment Fund of Denmark (EIFO) to support investments by Danish companies in Ukraine’s recovery projects.

In addition, Denmark, Norway, and Sweden are co-financing a new NATO initiative aimed at rapidly supplying Ukraine with weapons from the United States.

The aim is to provide the Ukrainian army with priority access to American weapons and equipment, which will significantly strengthen the country’s air defense.
