Saab has received an order from the Danish Ministry of Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organisation (DALO) for the multi-role portable Carl-Gustaf M4 grenade launcher.
This is stated in a press release from Saab.
The order made Denmark the 15th customer for the latest M4 version.
The first batches of grenade launchers will go to Denmark in 2022.
“We are ready to supply Denmark with Carl-Gustaf M4. The user-focused design of the Carl-Gustaf M4 will ensure that the Danish forces will have what they need, when they need it,” says Görgen Johansson, head of Saab Dynamics.
Since the launch of the Carl-Gustaf M4 in 2014, Saab has signed contracts with fourteen countries for this system.
A wide range of ammunition increases tactical flexibility, readiness for any combat situation, providing faster combat speed, increased target hitting accuracy and greater efficiency.
The Carl-Gustaf M4, also known in the US Army as the M3E1, is a new generation of multi-purpose anti-tank systems of the Carl-Gustaf family, developed and manufactured by the Swedish company Saab.
The Carl-Gustaf M4 system is capable of firing a wide range of 84 mm ammunition, including anti-tank, anti-personnel and auxiliary projectiles.
Ammunition used with the Carl Gustaf M4 has an effective range of up to 400 m against tanks and 700 m against buildings and stationary targets.
Some types of ammunition have a rocket accelerator that increases the range to 1000 m.
In the beginning of March it became known that Denmark delivers grenade launchers to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
