The Danish government has announced a new aid package worth about DKK 783 million ($116 million) to support Ukraine’s military needs.

The press service of the Danish government said that this package was aimed at meeting both short-term and long-term defense needs of Ukraine.

The main funds will be directed to the purchase of new military equipment from the Ukrainian defense industry and international partners.

“Putin continues his brutal and bloody attacks on Ukrainians. It is very important that Denmark continues to support Ukraine so that it can defend itself,” Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen said.

He emphasized that this twentieth military aid package had been drawn up taking into account the wishes and needs of Ukraine and would be useful both in the near future and in the future.

An important part of the new aid package will be the increase of the industrial pool by DKK 300 million in 2024, which will allow strengthening the Ukrainian defense industry.

Additionally, DKK 112 million will be allocated to finance purchases through Ukrainian defense enterprises.

Lars Løkke Rasmussen, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Denmark, noted that Copenhagen continued to be one of the most loyal supporters of Ukraine and had set an international standard of support for the country.

He noted that the new aid package would provide Ukraine with the necessary military equipment to resist Russian aggression.

Denmark has been providing military assistance to Ukraine since the first days of the war and is constantly preparing new aid packages.

In July, it became known that by the end of that summer, the Ukrainian army would receive 14 Leopard 2A4 main battle tanks purchased by the Netherlands and Denmark as part of military aid.

Denmark also plans to send 19 F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine.
