The first deliveries of the Ukrainian serial Bohdana self-propelled gun are expected in the coming months.
Oleksii Reznikov, Minister of Defense of Ukraine, announced this in his interview with Ukrainian Pravda.
Ukrainian wheeled self-propelled guns have a caliber of 155 mm.
“Ukrainian Bohdana is very important to us. I have already concluded the first contracts and they [manufacturers] have already promised to make the first deliveries in the coming months,” Reznikov commented on ordering the new Ukrainian artillery systems.
The Minister of Defense of Ukraine previously announced that Ukraine financed the industrial production of the domestic 2S22 Bohdana self-propelled howitzer. According to him, this happened in the spring of 2022.
Oleksii Reznikov also published a photo of a new chassis for the serial Ukrainian-produced 155-mm self-propelled howitzers.
The Head of the Ministry of Defense emphasized that the Bohdana successfully passed the battlefield tests.
Bohdana is the first self-propelled gun with the so-called NATO caliber of 155 mm. It was developed by Ukrainian Defense industry specialists.
Development of the first 2S22 Bohdana wheel 155mm artillery system in Ukraine began in 2016. The howitzer was installed on the KrAZ-63221 chassis with an armored cabin.
Bohdana ACS was first released in July 2018. After conducting all the necessary state tests and deploying Bohdana ACS into service, the launch of its serial production was expected.
At the end of January 2022, it was reported that Bohdana successfully passed preliminary fire tests: it fired 450 shots and reached a range of 42 kilometers. In the future, the gun will be used to defeat the positions of the Russian invaders in Ukraine.
It was planned that a full-fledged digital fire control system and a charging machine would be installed on the Bohdana ACS.
