In the Kharkiv region, Ukrainian defenders have seized a 2S23 Nona-SVK 120mm self-propelled mortar system.
Militarnyi informs about it.
During the battles for the liberation of Kharkiv region settlements, the russian occupiers have suffered significant losses in equipment and manpower.
In particular, two battalion tactical groups of russians that were supporting the special units of the russian army were located in the village of Husarivka (Balakleya district).
On March 27th, the Ukrainian forces knocked the Russian invaders out of the village.
Judging by the photos published by the Defense Forces of Ukraine, the trophies of this battle include a large number of artillery and armored vehicles, as well as the enemy ammunition.
The seized items include: 152 mm MSTA-B howitzers, control vehicles based on the armored personnel carriers and MT-LB, BTR-82, T-72B, 2S9 NONA gun-mortar, transport and re-supply vehicle from the TOS-1 heavy flame thrower system.
The russian 2S23 Nona-SVK self-propelled mortar system is a rather peculiar trophy.
2S23 Nona-SVK self-propelled mortar system is a russian battalion self-propelled artillery rifle with a 120 mm mortar gun.
The self-propelled gun is designed to strike at the manpower, artillery and mortar batteries, missile systems, armored targets, firearms, and control points.
It is claimed that the artillery installation has the capacity to be fired without prior training from the closed positions and through the direct aiming. The russian army holds under 40 units of such self-propelled artillery within its arsenal.
In the recent days, Ukraine’s defense forces have been conducting successful counter-offensive operations in the East of the country (Kharkiv and Sumy regions).
