Operators of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine destroyed the Russian Kasta-2E2 radar on the border with the Russian Federation.
The intelligence agency’s press service reported on this.
On February 13, 2024, special forces of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine’s “Husy-9 (Goose – ed.)” group struck a Russian radar station near the Russian-Ukrainian border.
The released video captures the strike drone hitting the mast of the disguised Kasta-2E2 radar.
Given the interface of the loitering munition, a Polish-made Warmate 3.0 unmanned system was used to launch the strike.
DIU units have repeatedly used them to strike targets behind enemy lines. In particular, in January, the Russian Tor air defense system was hit.
The video also shows the use of another drone, which hit a car and nearby targets with two free-fall munitions.
The press service said that along with the radar, the intel operators eliminated its crew.
Kasta-2E2 (39N6) is a Russian mobile L-band 3-D surveillance radar.
It is designed for controlling airspace, determining coordinates, and recognizing air targets, in particular, at extremely low altitudes, transmitting their coordinates and traffic parameters to air defense control systems.
The manufacturer claimed that the radar station’s instrumental view range station reaches 150 kilometers.
In early January, Ukrainian drones under the control of operators from the DIU hit two Russian Pantsir-S1 anti-aircraft missile and gun systems in the Belgorod region.
