The French aircraft manufacturer Dassault Aviation has produced the first Rafale B fighter jet for the Indonesian Air Force.
Scramble reported on this.
The aircraft, spotted on July 30, 2025, at Dassault’s factory airfield in Bordeaux, had a serial number T-0301.
Indonesia has ordered a total of 42 Rafale fighters under several contracts to strengthen its fleet of combat fighter aircraft.
In addition, Dassault reported that in the first half of 2025, seven Rafale fighter jets were manufactured, of which three were intended for the French Air Force and four for export customers. The latter apparently included an Indonesian aircraft.
According to the plan, Indonesia will receive the first fighter jet in early 2026, with deliveries of the remaining aircraft expected to continue until about 2035.
On February 10, 2022, it was reported that Indonesia signed a contract with France to purchase 42 Rafale multi-role fighter jets.
In total, the country will receive 30 aircraft in version C F.4 and 12 in version B.
The acquisition of the French fighter jet for the Indonesian Air Force includes a comprehensive solution that includes flight crew training, logistical support for several Indonesian air bases, and the creation of a training center with two fully functional simulators.
Back in 2021, Air Chief Marshal Fajar Prasetyo announced Indonesia’s intention to abandon the purchase of Russian Su-35 aircraft. Instead, it is planned to purchase French Rafale and American F-15EX.
At the same time, it was recently reported that the country will also purchase Turkish KAAN fighter jets.
An export agreement for the supply of 48 KAAN fighter jets was signed between Turkey and Indonesia during the IDEF25 defense exhibition in Istanbul.
