In Denmark, there has been a sharp increase in the number of people willing to join the Home Guard following incidents involving flights of unidentified drones over the country.
DR reports on this, citing the Ritzau agency.
It is reported that in September 2025, the number of applications for participation in the Hjemmeværnet (Home Guard) doubled.
In just one month, 526 people filled out the form. Of these, 58% did so last week and this week, following the detection of suspicious drones near Danish airports and military installations.
The Home Guard (Hjemmeværnet) is an official volunteer organization and part of the country’s defense structure. Its soldiers perform both military and support tasks, including supporting civilian structures, protecting strategic facilities, and patrolling.
The invasion of unknown drones forced the closure of several airports in Denmark. After the drone incidents, hundreds of reservists were notified to mobilize to respond to the situation.
The Ukrainian military also arrived in Denmark to share their experience in countering drones as part of the joint Defense Wings exercise. In addition, the country has introduced a temporary ban on all civilian drones, which will remain in effect until Friday, October 3.
