Low-resolution satellite images have confirmed damage to the Votkinsk Machine Building Plant following a strike by FP-5 Flamingo cruise missiles. The plant produces ballistic missiles, including those for the Iskander-M operational-tactical missile system.
Militarnyi reported this based on its analysis of satellite imagery.
The images, dated February 21, show at least one impact on the facility. Cloud cover and the limited image resolution make it difficult to assess the full extent of the damage.
Ukraine’s General Staff reported that Rocket Forces and Artillery units targeted the strategic enterprise of Russia’s defense industry with long-range FP-5 Flamingo cruise missiles.
The Votkinsk Plant is one of Russia’s key facilities for the production of solid-fuel ballistic missiles. It serially manufactures RS-24 Yars intercontinental ballistic missiles and RSM-56 Bulava submarine-launched ballistic missiles for Project 955A Borei-A submarines.
The plant also produces 9M723-1 ballistic missiles for the Iskander-M system and 9-S-7760 missiles for the Kinzhal air-launched missile system, as well as Oreshnik medium-range ballistic missiles. In addition, the enterprise manufactures equipment for the oil and gas and nuclear sectors.
On the night of February 20-21, local residents posted videos showing a large fire at the missile plant.
According to the Astra Telegram channel, workshops No. 22 and No. 36 were damaged in the missile strike. Local authorities confirmed the attack. The head of the Republic of Udmurtia claimed that there was damage and casualties “at one of the facilities.”
