The Czech Republic has stocks of military equipment that could potentially be transferred to Ukraine.

Jana Černochová, Minister of Defense of the Czech Republic, reported about this.

“We still have military equipment from the army reserves,” Černochová said after a meeting with Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala.

According to Fiala, among the combat equipment delivered to the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the first five months of 2023 were:

• 24 tanks;
• 17 infantry fighting vehicles;
• 16 air defense systems;
• 57 thousand artillery shells;
• 645 anti-tank missiles;
• 144 anti-aircraft weapons.

The Prime Minister added that the transfer also included other military materials, as well as various equipment, parts, spare parts, and fuel.

Fiala noted that the Czech government has also coordinated the supply of hundreds of additional units of heavy military equipment under licenses or in cooperation with foreign partners.

Černochová also pointed out that the army of her country would take into account the lessons of the war in Ukraine when making purchases and developing a defense strategy, which the Ministry of Defense of the Czech Republic planned to complete by September 2023.

In addition to the military equipment for Kyiv, the army of the Czech Republic provides Ukraine with important training for soldiers.

“We have nothing to be ashamed of, either in terms of quantity or quality. We train units to battalion level, specialists, send mobile training groups to Poland. I believe that we are doing a good job not only because it is morally correct, but also because it is important for our defense,” Czech government officials emphasized.

As previously reported, the Armed Forces of Ukraine received a variety of equipment from the Czech Republic. For example, air defense units in Ukraine have been strengthened by the Viktor air defense system.

Ukrainian front-line gunners also use Czech BM-21MT 122mm rocket launchers and Soviet-era tanks that were modernized in the Czech Republic.

The Czech military repair plant in Nový Jičín will also soon start repairing Ukrainian T-64 tanks.
