The government of the Czech Republic decided to allocate almost €1 million for the training of 20-25 Ukrainian civil aviation pilots in the country.
Jan Lipavský, Czech Minister of Foreign Affairs, announced this at a press conference.
The funds will come from the Czech government’s humanitarian and economic aid package to Ukraine, which was authorized in 2022.
Under this program, the Czech Republic undertook to allocate half a billion CZK (€21 million) annually in the period from 2023 to 2025.
The program enables students from the National Aviation University in Kyiv to pursue their studies in the Czech Republic.
After gaining knowledge, they will be ready to operate a civil aviation aircraft in the role of co-pilot.
The main aim of the project is to provide Ukrainian civilian pilots with the necessary training, which is currently impossible to do in Ukraine, as well as to support the restoration of civil aviation in Ukraine.
“Thus, the project will contribute to the earliest possible restoration of air traffic and, therefore, the general reconstruction of the country,” the Czech Foreign Ministry explained.
At the first stage, 20-25 students from the National Aviation University in Kyiv will be selected.
Training in the Czech Republic will take place in cooperation with a local organization that conducts certified flight training.
As previously reported, during the meeting in the Ramstein format, the Czech Republic invited its partners to expand the T-72 tank modernization program for Ukraine.
The country has expressed its readiness to modernize several dozen additional tanks as part of the joint project with the United States and the Netherlands, which initially provides for the modernization of 90 Т-72 tanks.
