The Czech Army has launched the Reserve Resources 2025 mobilization exercises, aimed at practicing conscription procedures in the event of a state of emergency or martial law.
Czech media Armadni Noviny reported on this.
The exercises will take place between June 23 and 27, 2025, and will test all stages of the mobilization system – from planning to the practical work of conscription commissions.
Reservists will also be involved in the exercises, and the Armed Forces will actively cooperate with city and district authorities nationwide.
“The exercises focus on the preparation and implementation of the conscription process — that is, the procedure for mobilizing citizens of Czechia in the event of a state of crisis, a threat to the state, or martial law,” the official website of the Czech Army reports.
It is worth noting that the exercises are organized by the Territorial Troops Command of the Czech Armed Forces in cooperation with regional military commands.
Representatives of the Czech Army explained that this exercise is indicative. That is, it does not actually apply to a wide range of citizens of Czechia — only servicemen who are in the active reserve are involved in participation.
Jan Grohmann, editor-in-chief of the Czech publication Armadni Noviny, shared with Militarnyi that the exercises are primarily aimed at testing the bureaucratic mechanisms and procedures for conscription of Czech citizens in the event of mobilization. The participants in the exercises will be servicemen from the active reserve.
“Such events are held in the Czech Republic every two years. Currently, we have about 5,000 servicemen in the active reserve, and by 2030, we plan to increase this number to 10,000,” Grohmann mentioned.
He also noted that there is an absolute cultural and psychological shock in Czech society when it comes to war.
“This is a topic that has been completely pushed out of the collective consciousness and everyday life for decades. The majority categorically rejects the very possibility that war could affect them. We are talking about a huge social group — so significant that it can lead certain political forces to parliament, and perhaps even win elections,” he said.
Militarnyi previously reported that during the Slovak Shield 2025 exercises, the Slovak military performed mobilization measures to deploy a mechanized battalion.
The essence of the exercises is to test the ability of the army to conduct mobilization measures when responding to various scenarios, both combat operations and other emergencies.
Thus, civilians were mobilized to the ranks of the 13th Mechanized Battalion of the Slovak Army upon call, which made it possible to practically test the readiness of both the unit and other structures related to the mobilization of civilians.
As the Ministry of Defense notes, all Armed Forces of Slovakia units were involved in the Slovak Shield 2025 exercises – from the ground to the air force.
