Ukrainian strike drones FP-1 and FP-2 are more than 90% made from domestically produced components.
Denys Shtilerman, Fire Point co-founder and chief designer, shared this in a podcast by Serhiy Sternenko.
According to him, the drones are equipped, among other things, with Ukrainian-made cameras and CRPA antennas.
The company still sources flight controllers on the market but has its own board and can switch to it if needed.
“We buy the flight controller on the market, but we can switch to our own board at any time. It exists, but there is no need to launch separate production,” Shtilerman said.
He also noted that only one imported component remains in the FP-5 Flamingo long-range cruise missile, with the rest produced in Ukraine.
In March, the Fire Point chief designer shared that the company is working to increase the FP-2 warhead to 158 kg while maintaining a range of up to 200 km.
To achieve this, the company developed a fuel tank integrated into the drone’s wing.
This upgrade will also allow the FP-1 warhead to increase from 50-60 kg to 105 kg.
Later, Iryna Terekh, Fire Point CEO and CTO, said the company expanded the FP-1 family by developing carrier drones and drones capable of using anti-aircraft weapons.
In particular, the company developed a carrier version for FPV interceptor drones based on the kamikaze UAV. It also integrated machine guns and other anti-aircraft weapons.
According to the company, FP-1 technology is optimized for mass production. The use of plywood structural elements and simple assembly methods enables fast, low-cost manufacturing.
