The air fleet of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine will be replenished with at least one An-32B transport aircraft, which is being handed over by Croatia.
A photo of the aircraft with the tail number 36 “blue” during the flight was published by the spotter Chris Lofting.
The picture was taken on June 8, 2024, at Zagreb International Airport.
This is one of two An-32Bs that have been in service with the Croatian Air Force since 1995, but since 2014 have not been operated and have been mothballed.
There is currently no official information on the this aircraft’s transfer conditions.
An-32 is a twin-engine turboprop light military transport aircraft designed to transport goods on short to medium-length lines. It can also be used for parachuting people and platforms with cargo, and, in the medevac variant, for transporting wounded.
It is worth noting that Croatia actively supports Ukraine in the fight against Russian invaders. Previously, the Croatian side handed over to the Ukrainian military Mi-8 helicopters within the framework of military assistance.
They were taken to Ukraine last spring.
The country handed over 14 helicopters: twelve Mi-8MTV-1 and two Mi-8T, which were decommissioned from the armed forces of Croatia.
In May 2023, nine aircraft arrived in Ukraine, and another five were partially dismantled and transported by ground transport.
In January 2024, the U.S. State Department approved the possible sale of UH-60M Black Hawk helicopters to Croatia.
This potential deal includes the supply of eight multi-purpose helicopters, along with related equipment and weapons, at an estimated cost of $500 million.
