Croatia has allocated the 14th military aid package to Ukraine, and the 15th is currently being prepared.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported on this.
In addition, Kyiv and Zagreb are expanding defense industry cooperation.
On Monday, the President met with Ivan Anušić, Croatia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, expressing gratitude to the Croatian government and people, especially for their military support. He noted that the 14th aid package has already been allocated, with the next one scheduled for the end of the year.
“We discussed the importance of advancing projects under the PURL initiative, particularly concerning air defense systems, as well as leveraging the opportunities offered by the SAFE mechanism,” President Zelensky remarked.
Meanwhile, Denys Shmyhal, Ukraine’s Minister of Defense, and Ivan Anušić signed a Letter of Intent to deepen defense industry cooperation.
“We agreed on the creation of joint production chains and cooperation between our defense sectors. We are preparing a joint industrial forum for manufacturers at the beginning of next year,” Shmyhal wrote on Facebook.
According to him, the 13 packages of military aid provided were worth over EUR 200 million.
Shmyhal highlighted Croatia’s role in the Mine Action Coalition and noted that the Croatian company DOK-ING has already delivered 69 demining vehicles and has begun producing spare parts in Ukraine.
The parties discussed the potential for involvement in the joint FPV drone production initiative.
It’s worth noting that the tank crews of the 141st Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces have been equipped with Croatian M-84 tanks.
Croatia also transferred Mi-8 transport helicopters to Ukraine as part of military assistance.
