Slovakia has officially confirmed the transfer of S-300 air defense systems to Ukraine.
Militarnyi informs about this.
Today, on April 8th, Eduard Heger, Prime Minister of Slovakia, had confirmed the information about transferring the S-300PMU air defense system, which was in his country’s arsenal, to Ukraine.
The head of the Slovak government confirmed the shipment of weapons on Twitter.
I would like to confirm that #Slovakia has provided #Ukraine with an air-defence system S-300. #Ukrainian nation is #bravely defending its sovereign country and us too. It is our duty to help, not to stay put and be ignorant to the loss of human lives under #Russia’s agression.

As previously reported, Slovakia has preliminarily agreed to provide Ukraine with the S-300 anti-aircraft missile systems to protect against Russian airstrikes.
The transfer of weapons was conditional on the guarantees that the air defense systems would be replaced by those from NATO’s partner states.
Thus, Slovakia became the first NATO country to supply Ukraine with heavy air defense systems to combat Russian invaders.
The S-300 is a medium-range anti-aircraft missile system (SAM). It was adopted in the USSR in 1979. It is designed for the defense of large industrial and administrative facilities, military bases, and control points from strikes by enemy air and space attacks.
The system is capable of destroying missile targets. S-300 became the first anti-aircraft missile system that can follow up to 6 targets and launch up to 12 missiles.
