The Come Back Alive Foundation has received another 15 Shark drones for the Ukrainian military.
The foundation’s press service reported about this on its social media.
“Recently, we have received another 15 Shark drones as part of our “EYE FOR AN EYE” charity project. These “birds” will allow us to quickly replace the UAVs lost in combat,” the statement said.
The drones will replace the lost aircraft from the already deployed unmanned systems purchased for the aerial reconnaissance units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
The drones are purchased in advance so that after losses the military does not have to wait for the new equipment to be manufactured.
“The aircraft themselves can last from one flight to months of active service. At the same time, the ground control station, the catapult, and a set of spare parts – which is the majority of the system’s cost – remain in operation. Only the losses in aircraft need to be replenished,” said Taras Chmut, Head of the Foundation.
The first 10 drones have already been shipped and some of them have been handed over to the troops to compensate for losses and ensure continuous operation on the front line.
Each system consists of the following elements:
As previously reported, the Shark unmanned aerial system of the Ukrainian company Ukrspecsystems has received an upgrade that increases its communication radius by 20 kilometers.
Now the drone has a range of 80 kilometers, before the system was upgraded, the radius was 60 kilometers.
Shark drones are actively used by the Defense Forces of Ukraine for artillery adjustment and terrain reconnaissance. The new modification should be especially useful as it will allow them to operate at the full range of the HIMARS and M270 rocket systems, which is 84 km.
