The Come Back Alive Foundation handed over a training center purchased in cooperation with Polish donors and the Turkish company Baykar to the Territorial Defense Forces.
The Foundation’s press service reported on this.
On July 29, the Foundation handed over a mobile modular camp worth $1.2 million to the Training Center of the Territorial Defense Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The project was successfully implemented thanks to the people of Poland and the Turkish defense company Baykar.
In July last year, more than PLN 22.5 million were raised in Poland for the Bayraktar TB2 unmanned combat aerial vehicle for the Ukrainian army by the initiative of journalist Sławomir Sierakowski. More than 200,000 people joined the campaign. The Turkish company Baykar decided to give the drone to the Armed Forces of Ukraine for free and asked to allocate the raised funds to charitable organizations that help the citizens and the army of Ukraine. Therefore, Sławomir Sierakowski donated about $1.88 million to the Come Back Alive Foundation.
The Foundation purchased a mobile modular camp from a Polish company for $1.2 million. It includes 31 residential and educational tents, lighting and power systems, heaters and furniture, camouflage coverings, laundry tent and medical module, generators and air conditioners, and containers and racks for weapons.
In addition, the Foundation spent $600,000 to order two specialized mobile repair stations for the Ukrainian military, necessary for the maintenance and repair of American HMMWV multipurpose wheeled vehicles and other Western equipment.
High-quality training and soldier instruction is the key to the high capacity of the army, emphasizes Major General Ihor Tantsyura, Commander of the Territorial Defense Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces:
“The better a soldier prepares in the training camp, the more effectively they will perform combat tasks on the front line. However, proper preparation requires appropriate conditions. And such modular mobile camps are an effective and necessary solution to this need. After all, a soldier has the opportunity not only to rest after a hard day of training but also to prepare well for the upcoming tasks.”
“This is the first tripartite international project of the Foundation. We have been negotiating with partners for over half a year, and agreed on all the details to implement it. It was not easy. No charity organization in Ukraine has done this so far.
However, thanks to this experience, we gained an even greater ability to cooperate at the international level in order to help our army,” says Ruslana Velychko, volunteer, lawyer, and First Deputy Executive Director of the Ukrainian Veterans Fund.
“Poland united and raised huge funds for Ukraine. The Baykar Corporation also showed an example of supporting us in the war. And our Foundation acted as a guarantor between the two countries for the high-quality, transparent, and competent use of these funds. Such an unprecedented level of trust is both a responsibility and a good challenge for us,” said Taras Chmut, Director of the Come Back Alive Foundation.
