Ukrainian company ComBat Vision offers to retrofit UGVs from Ratel and Tencore LLC with an external compass for UAH 3,500.
This solution significantly improves orientation accuracy and interaction with other systems, the company said on its Facebook page.
The ComBat 4 system, which is used to control UGVs, allows the overall situation from the Delta, ATAC, Kropiva, and Alpine Quest platforms to be projected onto a map of the ground station and onto video from the UGV in augmented reality format.
Operators can receive landmarks from command and observation posts in real time.
This feature is especially useful when working in difficult conditions, such as dense vegetation, where traditional navigation methods are often ineffective.
The integration of unmanned aerial vehicles with the KomBat 4 system creates the effect of a personal “geostationary satellite.” UAVs with optical navigation are capable of automatically transmitting waypoints and providing real-time navigation.
System users can see the locations of the next control points, minefields, and areas of potential communication jamming.
An important element is the use of a mesh network, such as Himera Radios.
This allows observation posts and foot reconnaissance teams to see the latest location of the UGV in their area of responsibility and the estimated time of arrival at the position.
At the same time, UGV operators receive information about their own teams and equipment, which minimizes the risk of friendly fire.
The company emphasizes that the UGV’s position is determined only by UGV or manually. To operate at full capacity, the complex must be equipped with a CRPA GNSS antenna or operate in an area where the standard navigation system functions correctly.
An additional compass only solves the problem of accurate directional orientation, making control more stable and predictable.
