Clashes broke out between the armed forces of Armenia and Azerbaijan after the Azerbaijani army’s positions in the Aghdam District were shelled.
The corresponding statement appeared on the official website of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
As a result of regular shelling of the Azerbaijani army’s positions in the Karabakh region, as well as the Armenian army’s mining of the territory, creation of additional fortifications, and firing positions, Azerbaijan reserves the right to a radical response.
Therefore, in order to suppress the illegal actions of the Armenian Armed Forces, the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan announces local anti-terrorist measures in the region to ensure constitutional order.
To achieve the objectives of the operation, the Azerbaijani Armed Forces will conduct a series of precision strikes on Armenia’s military infrastructure, front-line positions, permanent firing points, and military facilities.
In addition, the command of the Russian Federation’s peacekeeping contingent and the leadership of the Joint Turkish-Russian Monitoring Center were informed of the operation.
The first losses of equipment by the Armenian Armed Forces are being reported, and footage of the destruction of air defense systems and electronic warfare systems is being published.
To conduct high-precision destruction of military targets and infrastructure, the Azerbaijani Army uses short-range ballistic missiles developed by Israel’s LORA, with a range of up to 500 km.
The ground forces also use 306 mm Extra artillery rocket system with a range of up to 150 km, 301 mm Polonez and Polonez-M MLRS with a range of up to 300 km, and 302 mm TRG-300 Kasirga rocket system with a range of up to 100 km.
To destroy targets at a distance of up to 1,000 km, the Azerbaijani Ground Forces use Israeli-made Harop kamikaze drones.
For group attacks drones can be used, which can stay in the air for up to 9 hours, providing long-term autonomy for searching for targets.
According to the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense, the anti-terrorist operation began after a series of attacks on the positions of Azerbaijani troops and a terrorist attack on the road in the Khojavend District of Azerbaijan, which killed two civilians and four employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
