The People’s Liberation Army is preparing for a major modernization in preparation for use in the Indo-Pacific region.

During the ceremony celebrating the 97th anniversary of the People’s Liberation Army of China, the Party Committee headed by Xi Jinping announced a radical modernization of the Chinese army.

The main reference was aimed at preparing the People’s Liberation Army for a new theater of war, which is now shifting to the Indo-Pacific region.

Thus, it is expected that after the completion of the first army development program in 2027, China will begin training and reorganizing units that will have the appropriate weapons and equipment to conduct combat operations at sea and on remote islands.

Preparation of the army for use in the new region should be completed in 2035. In addition, it is expected to improve civil-military integration, modernize the institutions of the People’s Liberation Army, where officers will be trained to conduct joint operations and improve management skills.

“Carry out the most extensive and profound national defense and military reform since the founding of the People’s Republic of China, reconstruct the leadership and command system, the modern military force system, and the military policy system of the People’s Army. New structure, new pattern, and new look,” Xi Jinping, President of the People’s Republic of China, stated.

Xi did not provide any details on the modernization to the Chinese media, but judging by the fact that most units are currently in the process of reorganization, it is safe to assume that this process has already begun.

The People’s Liberation Army Navy is currently receiving universal dock landing ships from shipbuilders as soon as possible, designed to transfer large numbers of troops and equipment. In addition, marines, along with army units that have been reorganized, are conducting joint exercises to land infantry brigades.

It is also important that China is launching a massive deployment of various types of drones, which should be in every infantry division of the reorganized brigades. They will also be equipped with a whole system of drones that will provide reconnaissance capabilities at a range of more than 300 km.

This reorganization is a serious problem for countries that have certain territorial claims on the part of China and are also fighting with this country because of its establishment of airfields in the open ocean, which are used by both patrol and fighter aircraft.

To counter China’s aggressive policy, countries such as the Philippines, Japan, Australia, Vietnam, as well as Taiwan and others, are massively purchasing weapons to strengthen their own defense capabilities.
