Ukraine will receive the first ten armored personnel carriers of the LAV 6.0 ACSV family in the summer of 2024.

CBC reported on this with reference to Bill Blair, Minister of Defense of Canada.

Initially, ten armored personnel carriers will be sent to Germany, where the Ukrainian military will begin familiarizing themselves with the new vehicles and undergo training.

It is expected that ACSVs will not get to the front until the fall of 2024, as it is planned to conduct comprehensive training on the management and maintenance of these vehicles.

In general, Ukraine should receive 50 LAV 6.0 ACSV armored personnel carriers from Canada, which are produced by the Canadian company General Dynamics Land Systems Canada in London, Ontario.

The vehicles are part of Canada’s $650 million military aid package, which was announced last year.

It should be noted that the LAV 6.0 ACSV armored personnel carriers are modern wheeled armored vehicles with an 8×8 wheel arrangement developed on the modernized base of the LAV 3 BMP.

The new vehicles received an improved level of protection, which is capable of withstanding 14.5 caliber machine gun bullets from all sides. The vehicles were also fitted with new sighting systems, a remote-controlled Protector RWS, and a new 450 hp engine that allows the vehicle to accelerate up to 100 km/h on the highway and 40 km/h off-road.

In addition to Ukraine, the Canadian Ground Forces ordered the ACSV armored personnel carriers in the amount of 360 units, which should partially replace the M113 armored personnel carrier fleet.

These armored personnel carriers are being delivered to the ground forces in a comprehensive manner and will receive priority operational capability for limited use this year.

Delivery of the last vehicles should be completed in 2027, and in the same year, the vehicle will receive full operational readiness.

Some Ukrainian units already have experience in operating these armored personnel carriers, since in December 2022, the ACSV was spotted as part of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
