The Canadian Armed Forces have trained more than 35,000 Ukrainian military and security personnel.
Canadian Defense Minister Anita Anand announced this information on Twitter.
Instructors taught Ukrainians battlefield tactics and advanced military skills.
These trainings are conducted under the UNIFIER mission.
Currently, approximately 230 members of the Canadian military are involved in the mission.
In total, over 35,000 Ukrainian military personnel have been trained under the UNIFIER mission since its inception in 2015.
Until the beginning of the Russian invasion in February 2022, this training was carried out in Ukraine.
However, with the Russian invasion, the Canadians had to leave Ukraine and the training was transferred to bases in Great Britain.
Instructors from the 2nd Battalion, Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry are going there on rotation in the next few days.
Their task is to train Ukrainian volunteers to fight on the front lines so that they can defend their country from Russian aggression.
“Essentially, this is their basic infantry training. They will be trained for 33 days, and then they will be sent back to Ukraine to work as part of units,” the Canadian military said.
As previously reported, Ukrainian servicemen in Great Britain practice combat operations in the “city”. The study of conducting combat operations in an urbanized area falls under basic military training.
