Canada launched a fundraising campaign to buy the Bayraktar TB2 drone for Ukrainian army.
The campaign initiative on a Turkish-made UAV purchase belongs to the UHelpUkraine NGO.
In total, they plan to raise 7 million Canadian dollars (5.4 million US dollars).
“With the help of Ukrainian-Canadian community and all those who support Ukraine’s fight against tyranny, we can contribute to real changes and help our heroes return home,” the campaign description reads.
The volunteers want to hand over the purchased drone before the Independence Day of Ukraine — August 24.
The UHelpUkraine NGO was created in Canada after the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russia.
A team of volunteers of this NGO collects donations in Canada and organizes the transportation of essential goods through Poland to Ukraine.
Also recently, a fundraising campaign was launched in Norway for the purchase of the Turkish Bayraktar drone for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Norway and Canada supported the initiative of other European states, which are collecting funds to purchase military equipment for the defense of Ukraine.
Recently, a drone Bayraktar TB2 Vanagas (“Hawk”) gifted by Lithuania, arrived in Ukraine.
Also, as of July 18, more than 16.4 million zlotys (more than $ 3 million US) were collected in Poland for Bayraktar TB2 drone for Ukraine.
This is 75% of the required amount of 22.5 million zlotys (almost $ 5 million). About 150,000 people transferred funds within the “Buy a Bayraktar drone for Ukraine” campaign.
