Canada is boosting its capacity at a key transportation hub in Scotland.
Anita Anand, Defense Minister, stated this intention in her interview with CBC News.
According to Anita Anand, this is necessary to accelerate the delivery of military equipment and weapons to Ukraine and other Eastern European countries.
“We are expanding the ways in which we are assisting Ukraine and getting military aid to Ukraine by delivering even more aid,” Anita Anand said.
According to her, the Ministry of Defense of Canada will relocate to the airfield in the town of Prestwick in Scotland, where the contingent of the Canadian Air Force is based, with a third CC-130 aircraft, and the number of personnel will be increased to 55 people.
The Canadian Armed Forces use the designation CC-130 to refer to American-made C-130 military cargo aircraft.
As previously reported, a month ago, an aviation detachment of two C-130J aircraft of the Canadian forces was redeployed from the Middle East to Great Britain.
Associated ground support crews have also arrived in Scotland. They support ongoing efforts to supply Ukraine with weapons and ammunition.
Canada’s military cargo planes — both the C-130Js and the bigger C-17s Globemasters — have been working overtime since Russia stepped up its invasion of Ukraine in February.
They have been ferrying humanitarian aid, military hardware and ammunition to points in eastern Europe where the supplies can be shuttled across the border into Ukraine.
The C-130 Hercules is a transport aircraft produced by Lockheed. “Hercules” is the main tactical military transport aircraft in the Air Forces of many countries.
Also, Canada relaunched the training of Ukrainian servicemen, which will be conducted in Great Britain.
