Canada allows Ukraine to use the transferred weapons to strike at Russian territory.

Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Joly announced this during her visit to Sweden on May 29, 2024.

She noted that Canada has never set any restrictions on the territory where the transferred weapons can be used.

She also noted that Russia currently has no red lines that could prevent the transferred weapons from being used for the legitimate defense of Ukraine’s territory.

“And Canada has no conditions for the use of the transferred weapons to Ukraine, and therefore we will continue to work with the Ukrainian armed forces,” the Minister stated.

It should be noted that after the new Russian offensive in the Kharkiv region, some European countries launched a campaign to ease restrictions on the use of the transferred weapons by Ukraine.

Recently, high-ranking officials in the Czech Republic and the Netherlands have also expressed support for Ukraine’s use of Western weapons to strike Russian territory.

The President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, also supported the strikes on Russian territory.

“We must allow them to neutralize the military bases from which the missiles are launched,” the French President said.

In addition to France and Canada, Finland, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, the Baltic states, Poland, and Sweden have authorized the use of the transferred weapons for strikes on Russian territory.

Militarnyi previously reported that the NATO Secretary General called for the abolition of the ban on the use of Western weapons to strike targets in Russia.

The Secretary General noted that this is important right now, when much of the fighting is taking place in Kharkiv, not far from the border.
