Canada will become the ninth country to join the Drone Coalition, which aims to provide the Ukrainian Defense Forces with many drones.

The press service of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported on this.

Canada’s accession to the Coalition was announced during the visit of Latvian Defense Minister Andris Sprūds to Ottawa on March 7, 2024.

“We thank Canada for its unwavering support of Ukraine. The expansion of the Drone Coalition will help us solve our tasks on the battlefield. We continue to encourage our partners to join the Drone Coalition. Our aim remains unchanged – to raise $1.5 billion to finance Ukrainian drone production,” said Deputy Minister of Defense Kateryna Chernohorenko.

The Drone Coalition was officially launched within the framework of the Contact Group on Ukraine’s defense.

The Coalition was already joined by the United Kingdom, Denmark, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Germany, and Sweden.

Militarnyi previously reported that during the visit to Kyiv, UK Defence Secretary Grant Shapps announced the allocation of £325 million for purchasing more than 10,000 drones for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Shapps said that the UK is allocating £325 million, which is 125 million more than the amount previously announced, to supply more than 10,000 drones.

The majority of which are first-person view (FPV) drones,1000 one-way attack drones, as well as surveillance and maritime drones.

Militarnyi reported on February 18 that the UK was working with partner nations, in particular the United States, to provide Ukraine with thousands of new AI-enabled drones.

Western military planners developing the technology believe it could allow Ukraine to overwhelm certain Russian positions with unmanned vehicles.

Militarnyi previously reported that NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg stated that Western allies planned to supply Ukraine with one million drones by 2024.

The purpose of this association is to provide the Armed Forces of Ukraine with a large number of drones for various purposes.
