The German army has ordered nine state-of-the-art training simulators to train the crews of Puma infantry fighting vehicles as part of a platoon.

The contract was awarded in December 2025 to Projekt System & Management (PSM), a joint venture between Rheinmetall and KNDS Deutschland, which was specially created to supply Puma infantry fighting vehicles.

The total value of the order is €119.5 million, of which €118.5 million is for Rheinmetall.

The first training systems (AGSP), which will provide combat training for German BMP crews, will be delivered in mid-2027.

Rheinmetall has developed the AGSP as a completely new training system. In September 2025, the army announced its readiness to use it.

The AGSP is a simulator that recreates combat training for platoons of mechanized units. Its accurate reproduction of the key elements of the Puma IFV’s weaponry provides highly realistic training.

Each system consists of a command, control, evaluation and monitoring station, as well as four authentically recreated combat vehicle cabs housed in twelve 20-foot containers. The system is fully mobile.

It is noted that the modular architecture provides maximum system flexibility: all central components, such as server racks and driver cabs, are mounted on rail systems and can be easily replaced or upgraded as needed.

“Maintenance and repairs are also greatly simplified as the central systems are now externally accessible. This eliminates the need for costly returns to the plant, as well as downtime and logistical efforts,” Rheinmetall said.

The system provides comprehensive tactical training for armored troops without the need to move the BMP.

It is possible to simultaneously use two AGSPs or even involve a compatible main battle tank simulator in training.

In early 2026, Rheinmetall received an order from the German Army for 200 new Puma S1 armored personnel carriers equipped with MELLS anti-tank missiles.
