The United Kingdom Ministry of Defense will purchase GLADIUS anti-aircraft mines to enhance its anti-tank capabilities.
Information about the contract was published on the official website of the UK Ministry of Defense.
The new mines were developed by the British company Alford Technologies Ltd, which is a leader in the development and production of explosive devices.
The contract is expected to be signed in the near future and will last for three months. During this period, the company is to supply an unspecified number of mines to the British army.
Today, the GLADIUS anti-aircraft system is already in use in 11 NATO countries, including a significant number of British Army units.
This is the only mine of this type currently in service with the British Army, and it has replaced the MIACAH F1 anti-tank mines manufactured by the French company GIAT.
Earlier, Militarnyi reported that STV GROUP would supply the Czech Army with a new generation of smart cumulative anti-tank systems with a remote control system.
The Czech company STV GROUP has signed a seven-year framework agreement with the Ministry of Defense of the Czech Republic for the supply of the SENTRY intelligent anti-tank system.
The total value of the agreement is up to CZK 4.08 billion ($172 million).
The SENTRY anti-tank mine system is based on a 10.5-kilogram anti-tank mine with an encrypted MESH connection for remote control. The minefield management system allows for both direct and remote control from a distance of several kilometers, adjusting both all mines in the selected area and each mine individually.
In addition to the communication system, the mines are also equipped with a GPS system to accurately display the location of the minefield and warn the operator if the mine’s location changes.
The mine can be set up with the help of a control unit and can be remotely defused to allow friendly units to pass through the minefield.
